ETAE-04 The International Conference

The best four days of my life happened here during the International Conference in my department from 14th-17th December. To be precise, its called International Conference on Emerging Technologies in Agricultural Engineering 2004, in short ETAE-04.

12th December:

As i was a volunteer in the Momento group, i had to take a trip to calcutta and bring all the momentoes that had been ordered over the phone. Since, i would be having a sum of Rs 42000 with me, professor gave me a taxi for my trip. Frankly speaking i never found calcutta so confusing before. First, the driver himself lost track of where he was supposed to take me. Second, there wasnt a single good restaurant near that place where i had to pick up the momentoes, 300 pieces in all. In two hours all our work were over and we reached kgp by that evening itself. So in a 8 hr journey, almost 6 hrs were spent in the car which was boring and tiring. Aaaw.....i wont prefer any car to go to cal again, train is obvioulsy a better mode of transportation.

13th-14th December:

Asha and Suma arrived here for the dance program which was scheduled to be on 15th evening for a conference cultural show by students. Srinivas (my co-governor) and Rajesh were here for the show from the begining. Practice started right off the moment for the next two days. Even nightouts.....god hell, i never spent a night without sleep that too for dance.

Meanwhile i was busy buttering all the professors who came from various reputed universities of USA and luckily i was able to convince few of them to take me as their research assistant. One of the professors from the University of Wisconsin was very much interested to admit me in his college in the department of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering. But ironically, i am not applying to that university at all because he put forth a condition which i am not comfortable with. He said that i shouldnt apply to any other universities as he would be wasting his time on me for getting the financial aid and he is very much correct in his way. The thing is i cannot miss universities like UIUC and Purdue for a single univ.

15th December:

15th evening arrived and our dance show was great which is undesribable in just words. When the video comes out, it would be clear how TDS (Technlogy Dance Society) had improved day by day, month by month and yr by yr. The society which i joined in my 1st yr is no more like that anymore. It has developed a million folds just in front of my eyes.

Next two days, i attended all the seminars and paper presentations and tried to improve my meagre knowledge. On 17th the conference ended on a happy note and everybody bid good-bye to each other exchanging their e-mail addresses and visiting cards. Damn!! i dont have ne visiting card yet.

19th December:

Thought many times and decided that i must attend the KITS fest as this is the last time that i would be attending any such big fests of a coll other that ours. So packed some dresses and right in the next moment i was on the train to bhubs. KITS experience in another blog.

[ A big event happened in between these days which i deliberately skipped because Times Of India ppl are keeping a close eye over all the blogs that we write and quote it in their news. You know what i am talking about: the MMS clip story and its relation to iit kgp ]
